On Tuesday, 20th October, 2015, The Select Committee on Social Services headed by Cathy Dlamini (Chairperson of the Committee) adopted the Medicines and Related Substances Amendment Bill.
This paves the way for the Amendment Bill to be forwarded to the National Council of Provinces for concurrence. The Bill seeks to amend the Medicines and Related Substances Act, 1965, so as to define certain expressions and to delete or amend certain definitions, to provide for the composition, appointment of chairperson, vice-chairperson and members as well as to effect certain technical corrections to put the Act in line with current trends.
All provincial delegations voted in favour of amendment Bill. The Bill will now be forwarded to the House for consideration and adoption.
